  just heard on the news this evening that musician-turned jw 'formerly known as prince' has purchased a mansion in the bridlewood neighbourhood of toronto.. purchase price is reported at $5.5 million (canadian$).. but, will he come to the next apostofest??.

  Nimrod - the original freethinker?

  in an earlier discussion on this board about whether the nwt mistranslated the verse in genesis about nimrod being "a might hunter in opposition to jehovah," there was some really interesting research material presented.

  as i read it i began to realize that there seems to be a central reason why nimrod has been presented as one of the truly evil men of human history.. the witnesses emphasize that he was the one who started war, becoming a killer and tyrant.

  but in one of the quotes, there is a more likely reason for nimrod being vilified and demonized.

  ***NIGHTMARES***

  when i was a dub growing up, i remember the nightmares..... repeated, and frequent.... the terrible feeling of dreaming that "armageddon" had come, and that destruction was happening all around me.. when i woke up, i would lie perfectly still, and do nothing.

  not even a muscle twitch, and just "listen" for a familiar sound, to tell me i was indeed still alive, and still on the planet.. and the fear those dreams put in me, i can still remember 25-30 years later.. how many of you, growing up in, or even coming in as adults had a similar experience?.

  HI Zev,

  I had many nightmares that would start with men in camo coming around to each house taking by force any witnesses and I would see them heading towards our house. I would try to hide, but would always be found hiding in the basement. When they got all of us witnesses together, we'd be standing outside (sort of like nazi camps) and really dark clouds with the loudest lightening ever heard would start rolling in fast. I just knew it was Armageddon and that I wouldn't make it. In my sleep I'd start crying and praying to Jehovah to just forgive and please save me. I was terrified and it seemed like I would pray for hours in fear.
  Even when I'd wake up (I had similar dreams for years, every so often) I'd be feeling sick and upset for the morning/day.

  I haven't had any other dreams like that since I found out the truth about the trooth.

  This should be required in all teens schoolbooks. Just think how many would avoid drugs if they posted before and after shots of what drugs really do to people, and not just the way they look.

  I'm a newspaper columnist. I write about the internet so that means I'm actually working right now, :-)
  I also own my own web design business which is keeping me way too busy and is making me rethink this "entrepreneurial" lifestyle.
  My favorite job (if I had to work for someone again) would be when I was a ticket/gate agent for Northwest Airlines. The free flights were the best perk! I could never find anyone to take off with me at a moments notice though. Geez.
